Updated: 1 October 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website (themouldmedics.co.za), the inspection and remediation services we provide, and the HomeGuard Plan. By booking a service, purchasing a membership, or using our website, you agree to these terms.

1. Who we are

Building Science Inspectors (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/584431/07, trading as Building Science Inspectors / The Mould Medics.

Business address: Inanda Greens Office Park, Wierda Road West, Wierda Valley, Sandton, 2196, South Africa.

2. Our services

We provide building science and environmental inspections (including damp and mould inspections, moisture ingress surveys, mould spore testing, thermal imaging and related services), remediation and treatment services, and the HomeGuard maintenance membership plan.

Inspections are visual and instrument-based assessments of the property and conditions identified at the time of inspection. Our findings, conclusions and recommendations are set out in the written report issued for that inspection. A report is not a guarantee or warranty of the condition of the property, and some defects may not be detectable or reasonably identifiable at the time of inspection, including those within concealed or inaccessible areas.

3. Bookings, cancellations and rescheduling

  • Inspections have to be booked online on the required service request with the client property details.

  • Inspection bookings do not require payment upfront, although settlement is mandatory on the day of service.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations with less notice may be subject to a cancellation fee, reflecting the reserved time and travel.

  • We may reschedule an appointment where reasonably necessary (e.g. weather conditions affecting the validity of moisture or thermal readings, or emergencies). We will give you as much notice as reasonably possible.

  • Access to the property, including areas requiring inspection (roof spaces, subfloors, cupboards, electrical access panels), is your responsibility to arrange. Our inspectors will not move occupant belongings, dismantle structures, or disturb asbestos-containing materials.

4. Quotes and payment

  • Quoted prices are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.

  • Inspection fees are payable in full on the day of service.

  • Remediation and treatment work: payment terms will be set out in the applicable quotation or service agreement.

5. HomeGuard Plan membership

The HomeGuard Plan is an annual inspection and maintenance membership for homeowners:

  • Plans: R299 per month, or R2 990 per year (two months free).

  • Benefits: two seasonal moisture inspections per membership year (spring and autumn) with written reports; 10% discount on remediation, damp proofing, mould treatment and pest services; priority booking.

  • Membership term: monthly plan is for a 12 month fixed term contract; annual plan is discounted pre-paid annual fee  for 12 months from the start date.

  • Inspections: the plan must be used within the membership year and does not carry over. A membership pre-paid plan may be transferred in the event of a property sale.

  • Fair usage policy: member may only redeem inspections during spring (September and October) and autumn (March and April). Should additional inspections be required out of these two seasons, member has a10% discount for additional inspection requests.

  • The 10%-member discount applies to services billed directly to the member and cannot be combined with other promotions.

  • We may amend plan benefits prospectively on renewal with reasonable notice; changes will not reduce benefits you have already paid for.

6. Limitation of liability

  • Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.

  • To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any inspection or service is limited to the fee paid for that inspection or service or, at our election, to re-performing the affected service.

  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (e.g. loss of profit, property value, or relocation costs), except where such liability cannot lawfully be limited.

  • Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

You may read, download and share content for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not republish our content commercially without written permission. 9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by South African law. Any dispute will first be addressed between us in good faith, and if unresolved, referred to mediation before court proceedings, unless the Consumer Protection Act or other law entitles you to another forum.
